When you buy a toothpaste, on the back in has the "Inactive Ingredients"...?

Does this mean those ingredients aren't in the Toothpaste or are in the toothpaste? I'm trying to find a toothpaste that doesn't have Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in it because I suffer from Canker sores. The toothpastes people recommend I can't find in my store.
